France runs two kinds of wine fair, and 2026 is no exception. The "foire aux vins" is the autumn retail event when supermarkets and wine merchants discount their best selections, starting as early as 3 September. Alongside it, the winemakers' salons bring independent producers face to face with the public from October to December. This calendar gathers the confirmed 2026 dates for both, all sourced from the retailers and organisers themselves.

Autumn 2026 foire aux vins dates (French supermarkets)

The autumn foire aux vins opens with Lidl on 3 September 2026, then most chains follow between mid-September and mid-October. Here are the announced 2026 dates.

E.Leclerc runs its wine fair from 29 September to 11 October 2026, with an online preview a few days before the shelves open. Carrefour spreads its own from 22 September to 18 October depending on store format. Auchan, Cavavin and V and B usually run their operations in September, but their 2026 dates were not yet official at the time of writing: check the retailer's website directly.

The spring foire aux vins: the second wave

The foire aux vins is not only an autumn event. A shorter second wave takes place in spring: in 2026, E.Leclerc held it in March and several chains followed in April and May. If you are reading this off season, keep the marker in mind: the spring wine fair usually returns in March-April.

Foire aux vins or winemakers' salon: what is the difference?

A supermarket foire aux vins is a commercial operation: the chain negotiates lots and sells them at a discount for two to four weeks. A winemakers' salon, by contrast, brings together producers who present and sell their own wine directly. The best known is the Salon des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants, with no resellers or merchants, only independent growers. The two formats complement each other: one to find bargains close to home, the other to meet producers and taste before buying.

The 2026 independent winemakers' salons

After the supermarket fairs, the public tour of the Vignerons Indépendants takes over from October to December 2026. Run by the federation of independent French winemakers, it visits several major cities before finishing in Paris.

The Paris salon, at Porte de Versailles from 10 to 13 December 2026, remains the busiest: many visitors buy their festive-season wine there. City-by-city dates are published on the official Vignerons Indépendants agenda.

Major 2026 wine trade shows and tastings

Beyond the public fairs, 2026 has several landmark events. Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris, the sector's main professional show (born from the merger of Vinexpo, Vinisud and Vinovision), ran from 9 to 11 February 2026 at Porte de Versailles and returns on 15-17 February 2027. For organic wine, Millésime Bio gathered producers in Montpellier in late January. For enthusiasts, Le Grand Tasting by Bettane and Desseauve takes place on 27-28 November 2026 at the Carrousel du Louvre.

Regional wine celebrations in 2026

The wine year is punctuated by regional highlights. The Foire aux Vins d'Alsace in Colmar, one of the oldest in France, ended on 9 August 2026: see you in 2027. In autumn, the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre animates the 18th arrondissement of Paris from 7 to 11 October 2026, and Beaujolais Nouveau is released on 19 November 2026 (the third Thursday of November). Note: Bordeaux Fête le Vin will not have a 2026 edition, having been cancelled for budget reasons, with a return announced for 2027.

Behind the scenes: running a winemakers' salon

A salon like the Vignerons Indépendants involves heavy logistics: 300-plus exhibitors to register, place on a floor plan and track over several days. Stand allocation, application follow-up and communication with each winemaker all have to be organised in advance. For organisers of regional or sector salons who want to streamline that process, exhibitor management tools like Keyqo, focused on exhibitor registration and interactive floor plans, handle this kind of volume in a single tool.
